MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – The Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee of Belarus and the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada signed a memorandum of understanding during the high-level plenary meeting of the Egmont Group in the Hague, BelTA learned from the Belarusian State Control Committee.
The memorandum was signed by Director the Financial Monitoring Department Vyacheslav Reut and head of the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre Nada Semaan.
The memorandum provides for the exchange of information associated with the legalization of income obtained by criminal means and financing of terrorist activities. The document entered into force from the moment of signing.
Until now, the cooperation between the financial monitoring units of Belarus and Canada was limited due to the lack of such an agreement.
