GOMEL, 25 August (BelTA) – The free economic zone (FEZ) Gomel-Raton raised over $55 million in foreign direct investment in January-June 2020, BelTA learned from the administration of the FEZ Gomel-Raton.
“The FEZ Gomel-Raton attracted $55.1 million in foreign direct investment for the implementation of investment projects in January-June 2020. Foreign direct investment on a net basis amounted to $25.2 million. Capital investment from the FEZ resident companies came at over Br110 million (115.5% as against H1 2019),” the FEZ administration said.
In H1 2020, the industrial output grew by 2.6% year-on-year. The growth rate of revenues from sales of goods ans services by the FEZ resident companies exceeded 104%.
Most of products made by the FEZ Gomel-Raton resident companies are bound for export. In January-June 2020, foreign trade in goods came at $773.7 million with the surplus at $293.7 million.
As of 1 August, the FEZ Gomel-Raton had registered 69 resident companies with capital from 16 countries. The average number of employees at these enterprises is 29,313. As many as 232 new jobs were created in the first half of 2020.
