MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – The agreement on free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Vietnam may be signed in the first half of 2015, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives on 28 January, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Andreichenko turned the MPs’ attention to the need to protect the national interests in the EEU, including through its expansion and the possible conclusion of free trade zone agreements with third countries. “In its recent meeting the Council of Ministers discussed the issue related to the signing of the free trade zone agreement between the EEU and Vietnam. The agreement may be signed in H1 2015,” the speaker said.
“The House of Representatives’ area of responsibility is the ASEAN region. It is important to build on the results achieved and increase out presence on the ASEAN market. The focus should be on the development of the production cooperation and the implementation of promising investment projects,” Vladimir Andreichenko stressed. He called upon the heads of working groups on cooperation with the parliaments of South-East Asia to pay close attention to these issues.
“They show interest in Belarusian goods and the development of trade and economic relations. This potential should be exploited,” the speaker said.
In his words, special focus remains on establishing relations with the Latin-American parliament, including through contacts with the parliaments of the states that make part of the organization.
