EBRD appoints new chief of Belarus Resident Office

MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) – Marina Petrov has been appointed EBRD Head of Belarus, BelTA learned from the Press Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

“Based in Minsk, she will be responsible for the Bank’s operations and policy engagement in the country. Since the start of its operations in Belarus in 1992, the EBRD has invested almost €2.9 billion in 130 projects in various sectors of the country's economy,” the Press Office informed.

Marina Petrov will replace Alexander Pivovarsky, who has served as Head of Belarus since 2016 and will continue his career at the EBRD’s headquarters in London.

Commenting on her appointment Marina Petrov said: “I am honored to continue the great job done by my predecessor and will do my best to develop our business in Belarus further as well as to promote best business practices in the country. I am planning to build on the successes we have achieved in the private and public sectors and to pursue our constructive policy dialogue with the authorities.”

Marina Petrov, a Moldovan national, joined the EBRD in 1995 and has previously held senior positions in London and in the Bank’s countries of operation. She was Head of the St. Petersburg office and most recently served as a Deputy Head of Ukraine responsible for one of the EBRD’s largest project portfolios and looking after energy and infrastructure sectors.
