MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – The demand for Belarusian sawn timber in the Chinese market will continue rising, the director general of the Chinese company Taomu Co. Ltd said during an online meeting to discuss supplies of timber products, which was organized by the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), BelTA learned from BUCE’s Spokesman Roman Yaniv.
According to him, the Chinese market is quickly rebounding after the pandemic, and the consumption of imported timber, including Belarusian timber, is rapidly increasing. “We expect the demand for Belarusian sawn timber to continue growing, which is why we intend to purchase more sawn timber on BUCE. The commodity exchange allows buying almost unlimited amounts of timber from several suppliers at a time, and we are always able to get the whole batch. At the same time, we save a lot of time, because without BUCE it would take us several weeks to find potential sellers and complete negotiations to buy 40 rail cars with sawn timber. Thanks to BUCE, it took us less than two hours to purchase this amount,” the Chinese businessman said.
The director general of Taomu Co. Ltd also praised BUCE’s transaction support, thanks to which his company did not face any problems during their work on the exchange. “Buying sawn timber on BUCE helps us minimize commercial risks. BUCE closely controls how companies fulfill their obligations, which is why we can always be sure that we will get high-quality products in due time. Of course, there are no guarantees in over-the-counter trading. This is why we chose BUCE as a means to access the Belarusian market,” he stressed.
Taomu Co. Ltd is a large importer of sawn timber to China. Since December 2020, it has been an active participant of BUCE’s trading sessions.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry, and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
