GRODNO, 18 August (BelTA) - Delegations and representatives of the embassies of the five countries will attend the regional economic forum and expo "Northern Vector of Grodno Oblast”, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the Ostrovets District Executive Committee Pavel Meleshko.
The sixth edition of the regional expo will take place in Ostrovets on 22 August. More than 60 enterprises from three districts of Grodno Oblast will present their industrial and investment opportunities.
On the same day the Ostrovets cinema and concert hall will host an exhibition of investment projects and the economic forum "New Possibilities and Cooperation Prospects”. Three districts will showcase their promising development plans and investment projects. For example, Ostrovets intends to invite investors to develop the roadside infrastructure: a network of filling stations, logistic centers, shopping and other facilities. For their part, representatives of the embassies of the participating countries will present their vision of the promising areas of cooperation. The forum will include sessions to discuss the industrial sector and agriculture, tourism and cooperation under international technical assistance programs, and a business matchmaking session.
According to Pavel Meleshko, Ostrovets will host delegations of different cities and districts, representatives of business and embassies of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and China. It is expected that a long-term agreement on economic cooperation between the town of Ostrovets and the Polish twin-town of Lidzbark Warminski will be signed during the forum. During the meeting representatives of the two towns will develop a program of long-term action in the pursuance of this agreement. In addition, Oshmyany and the Latvian town of Gulbene are getting ready to conclude an agreement on long-term cooperation in various areas and will sign a letter of intent during the forum.
The expo "Northern Vector of Grodno Oblast" is held annually, alternately in Smorgon, Oshmyany and Ostrovets. This year it is held in Ostrovets District which just celebrated its 75 anniversary. An extensive cultural and sports program is planned for 22 August.
