Czech companies looking for partners in Belarus

BREST, 20 April (BelTA) – Representatives of the Czech private sector are interested in finding partners in Belarus, BelTA learned from Frantisek Masopust, Executive Director, member of the Board of the Czech Chamber of Trade and Industry for CIS Countries, on 20 April.

Frantisek Masopust said: “Our companies are willing to get familiar with the local business environment, with the opportunities they can explore for doing business. They are interested in finding partners, with whom they could work not only in Belarus but also the Eurasian Economic Union and other countries.”

A Belarusian-Czech business forum was scheduled to take place in Brest on 20 April. The foreign delegation included representatives of banks, companies specializing in civil engineering, crystalware production, power transformers, computer technologies, transportation services, logistics, and legal services. Belarusian companies demonstrated a strong interest in the event. About 40 executives of Belarusian companies and enterprises turned up to meet with potential partners from Czechia.

According to Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Serkov, the necessary conditions for starting and running a business have been enabled in the region. It is now possible to register a new enterprise within hours. At present there are about 30 companies with Czech capital in Brest Oblast. Trade with Czechia rises rather vigorously. “We dropped a bit in several commodities relating to woodworking industry. But I hope that today’s meeting and future work will help bridge the gap. It is important for us to use Czechia wisely in order to increase export to the rest of Europe,” stressed the vice governor. He noted that meetings of top executives of major Belarusian woodworking companies and representatives of Czechia were supposed to take place that day. Matters concerning the implementation of joint projects were on the agenda.
