Cuba set to foster cooperation with Belarus in industry, food production

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) - Cuba is showing interest in intensifying cooperation with Belarus in industry and food production, Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz said as he met with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova on 12 June, BelTA has learned.

“Contacts between Cuba, Minsk Tractor Plant and MAZ have recently intensified. A contract has been signed with MTZ for the delivery of 12 sets of tractors to be assembled in Cuba. We consider this as a starting point for increasing the pace of cooperation,” Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz said. “We paid a visit to Minsk Tractor Plant. We saw the great technological progress at the plant. We had a very fruitful dialogue regarding the potential of our cooperation in food production. We are considering the possibility of Belarus’ participation in the restoration of dairy production in Cuba.”

Current times require other approaches in work, including interaction between business circles, the deputy prime minister said. “All the issues that were discussed during this visit and the documents that were signed need business participation for effective implementation,” he stressed. “We will also focus on targeted work to intensify interaction and renew the documents, agreements signed between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cuba Chamber of Commerce,” he said.
