MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – Belarus and the Russian company TVEL (part of the fuel division of the Russian nuclear industry corporation Rosatom) have signed a contract on delivering fuel for the Ostrovets nuclear power plant, BelTA has learned.
As part of Rosatom’s integrated offer in addition to providing foreign nuclear power plants under construction with nuclear fuel for the duration of their operation on attractive terms TVEL Company is ready to work with customers to improve the design of the fuel assemblies, improve their reliability and economic effectiveness, TVEL President Natalya Nikipelova said.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using the Russian standard Generation III+ design AES-2006 near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
