Concept of Belarus-India investment cluster in Orsha District displayed in New Delhi

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – The 8th session of the Belarusian-Indian intergovernmental commission for cooperation in the economy, trade, manufacturing, science, technology, and culture at the level of the deputy co-chairmen of the commissions took place in New Delhi on 3-4 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The sides discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation between Belarus and India. Special attention was drawn to determining short-term priority avenues of joint work. On Belarus’ behalf, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov served as the co-chairman; India was represented by Joint Secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Atul Chaturvedi.

The session of the Belarusian-Indian intergovernmental commission took place during the visit of the Belarusian delegation led by Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk to India. The delegation included representatives of Belarus’ leading organizations of the manufacturing sector, light industry and pharmaceutics, petrochemistry, logistics, tourism, and science. The Belarusian delegation met with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Coal Industry and Energy Piyush Goyal, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Secretary (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India Ruchi Ghanashyam.

“The Belarusian-Indian business forum and a business matchmaking session were organized on the sidelines of the intergovernmental commission session. The participants of the forum familiarized themselves with a concept of the Belarusian-Indian investment cluster in Orsha District, Vitebsk Oblast. Belarus’ National Agency for Investment and Privatization held a presentation of the investment potential of our country. After the business forum a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Confederation of Indian Industry and the National Marketing and Pricing Center of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The coordination bureau Belarus-India has been operational in this center since 2016,” the representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The program of the visit of the Belarusian delegation also includes negotiations of Belarusian business circles with their Indian partners and meetings with representatives of regional administration bodies and India’s business community in Mumbai and Bangalore.
