MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – The competitive ability of Belarusian woodworking industry products is on the rise, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov on 1 June.
The Prime Minister stated that due to the weakening of the Russian ruble against the U.S. dollar the competitive ability of Belarusian woodworking industry products had dropped. “The markets turned out to be difficult for us competition-wise,” said Andrei Kobyakov.
Nevertheless, the state of affairs is now improving, noted Andrei Kobyakov. In particular, the Russian ruble has grown a bit stronger against the Belarusian ruble. According to the Belarusian head of government, it is a good competition situation. The government believes that woodworking enterprises will start producing the desired results.
Speaking about problems of the real sector of the national economy, Andrei Kobyakov mentioned plans to make the situation involving overdue loans more affordable for servicing. He said the plans applied not only to woodworking enterprises but companies like Gomselmash, MAZ, MTZ, and Gomelglass. The Prime Minister remarked that the decision on loans will be made soon in correlation with plans of executives to improve the situation. Their responsibility for the performance of the companies they are in charge of will be raised, concluded Andrei Kobyakov.
