MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Plans have been made to set up a consortium of civil engineering companies of the former Yugoslavian republics for the construction of the Minsk Mir multipurpose compound, member of the National Assembly of Serbia, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Belgrade Dragomir Karic told journalists on 20 November, BelTA has learned.
The idea to establish the consortium was proposed by the Presidents of Belarus and Serbia, Dragomir Karic noted. This is expected to happen in the presence of the leaders of the former Yugoslavian republics in spring 2016.
Dragomir Karic added that specialists from the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, the United States, and other countries will be involved in the construction of the Minsk Mir multipurpose compound. In his words, the project will take not more than ten years to complete. The first results will be seen already within a couple of years. The compound will occupy 320ha on the site of the former airport Minsk 1. Apart from well-developed social infrastructure, it will have a shopping mall and a financial center. Serbian investors believe the project will help Belarus attract investment from big international companies. Besides, new jobs will be created.
