BREST, 19 October (BelTA) – Chinese companies are interested in developing cooperation with the processing companies of Brest, Xiaogan Mayor Teng Gang said at the meeting with representatives of the Brest City Hall on 19 October, BelTA informs.
The delegation of the Chinese twin-town has come to Brest with a view to strengthening cooperation in the economic sector. “Over 22 years Xiaogan and Brest have become good friends. We have come to add impetus to our relations in the economy and trade. Our companies offer Brest processing companies cooperation in the supplies of meat and dairy products to China. I think that the Belarusian side will be interested in our electronic products. Such meetings are held to provide companies with an opportunity to personally agree on cooperation,” stressed Teng Gang.
According to Director General of OAO Savushkin Product Alexander Savchits, his company has already been working with Chinese partners. The Brest company plans to increase supplies of dairy products to China in the near future. The Brest Meat Packing Factory has applied for certification of its products to China. Delivery contracts have already been signed. The Brest company only waits for the official permit.
The Brest distillery Belalco has already made some shipments to China. At the moment the goods go to this country through Chilean distributors. Of course, it is much easier and more profitable to export directly, said the company's director Alexander Romanovsky.
After the meeting, Teng Gang said he intends to provide all possible assistance to help Brest goods find their way to the Chinese market.
Chairman of the Brest City Hall Alexander Rogachuk believes that the city of Xiaogan can become the springboard for Belarusian producers who want to advance to the Chinese market. "It is not quite normal when goods are delivered to China through Chilean companies, or Singapore. It means different logistics, higher costs. Accordingly, our competitiveness on the international market falls. Therefore, it is important to have bilateral meetings, establish direct contacts between business entities,” he said. The Brest mayor also expressed interest in strengthening the cooperation with the Chinese side, raising investments in the economy and urban infrastructure.
