MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – China’s Gansu Province views cooperation with Belarus in logistics and hospitality business as promising. Deputy Head of the Gansu Commerce Department Zhang Shien made the relevant statement during negotiations with Belarusian partners from Minsk and Grodno in the Belarusian capital on 16 September, BelTA has learned.
Zhang Shien underlined that joint projects can be implemented in Belarus in many areas. “We are interested in logistics, hotel business, agriculture, dairy industry, meat processing industry. During the current visit our delegation, which includes representatives of over 30 Chinese companies, examined the investment climate in Belarus and sketched out promising areas,” noted the official.
Zhang Shien also mentioned the advantages of Gansu Province that is home to about 27 million people. The region is a major transportation hub of China. Apart from that, the region has considerable deposits of oil and gas. The Chinese representative encouraged Belarusian partners to establish tighter contacts with the province.
Grodno Mayor Mechislav Goi mentioned that cooperation with Gansu had advanced to a higher level after top-level visits, in particular, the visits of China President Xi Jinping to Belarus and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to China. The Grodno city administration representative suggested expanding the list of joint projects to China, including participation in tourism business and hotel business.
A number of Belarusian-Chinese documents were signed as a result of the talks. In particular, the sides signed contracts and agreements between the free economic zone Grodnoinvest and the Commerce Department of Gansu Province, between the Grodno city administration and the Chinese corporation Wuwei Quansheng, between Wuwei Quansheng Corporation and the Belarusian wholesale group Belresursy.
