MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – SZAO Industrial Park Development Company has successfully passed an audit to confirm its international compliance with EMAS and OHSAS standards, BelTA learned from the company’s First Deputy Director General Kirill Koroteyev.
These certifications are believed to be the world’s cutting-edge systems for confirming the compliance of management practices with sustainable development principles. The European Union’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) has been developed for companies and other organizations to evaluate, report, and improve their environmental performance. Compliance with the UK’s Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) enables organizations to demonstrate that they have a system in place for occupational health and safety.
According to Kirill Koroteyev, compliance with the EMAS and OHSAS has allowed the company to handle management risks and improve performance.
The executive reminded that SZAO Industrial Park Development Company was Belarus’ first company to get an EMAS certificate. “The certificates need to be confirmed every year. And requirements get tougher every year,” he stressed.
