MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to find out what energy-intensive manufacturing enterprises can be set up near the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his Address to the nation and the parliament on 31 March, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked it is necessary to take a look at what energy-intensive manufacturing enterprises can be set up near the Belarusian nuclear power plant. He said: “I’ve given the relevant instruction. But I don’t see sensible proposals for now. We already have a huge amount of excessive electricity. It is a huge resource, huge reserve. Let’s use it.”
“Yes, thanks to the Belarusian nuclear power plant we substitute natural gas and can actively develop the electric industry. Electric transport is the key component. But it is necessary to more actively expand the production of traction motors, components for unmanned transport. It is time for our scientists to present a lineup of quality, inexpensive and competitive accumulators. We will take a look soon. The Academy of Sciences promised me that they are already available,” the president noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that citizens are seriously interested in using electricity for heating their homes. “Since it is profitable. But the adoption rate is slowed down due to insufficient power grids in some places or high deterioration of power grids in other places. In other words, we cannot give people the capacity they need. It is necessary to more seriously approach the matter,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
