BREST, 29 March (BelTA) – Businessmen from eight countries have submitted applications for participation in the international business forum Brest 2016 scheduled for 21-22 April, BelTA learned from the organizers of the event.

Partaking in the forum will be delegations of Russia’s Saint Petersburg, Saratov Oblast, Pskov Oblast, and Moscow Oblast, and also Ukraine’s Volyn Oblast and Sumy Oblast. The list of participants also includes representatives of China’s Chibi City, Lithuania’s Siauliai, Poland’s Siedlce, Warsaw, Lublin, Bialystok, and Biala Podlaska. Pakistani, Italian and Turlish businessmen also show interest in the forum.

More than 70 cooperation projects will be presented to potential investors. Foreign partners will be invited to invest in such industries as mining, woodworking, and food processing, construction, agriculture, and tourism.

“We hope that the forum will be an interesting and useful event both for the investors and us. We have plans to sign a number of agreements to step up our cooperation with Russia’s regions and the countries of Europe. We expect that several enterprises for processing of fruit and vegetables will be set up as a result of the forum. It is no less important to further develop the production of building materials, especially clinker brick,” Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Serkov said and added that establishment of joint ventures and signing of agreements on loans for state-owned enterprises would also be a good result.

The international business forum Brest 2016 shifted the dates of the multi-industry fair Brest. Commonwealth that used to take place in April. “The event has been rescheduled for autumn. We expect that it will gather many of our partners. This will help us strengthen regional ties, first of all, through social projects. And the business forum will attract investment to the region,” Mikhail Serkov pointed out.

The international business forum Brest 2016 is organized by the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the Brest Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
