BUCE, Czech Embassy in Belarus to step up cooperation

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and the Embassy of the Czech Republic intend to intensify cooperation. A corresponding agreement was reached during a visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Belarus Milan Eckert to the BUCE central office, BUCE spokesman Roman Yaniv told BelTA.

According to the Czech ambassador, cooperation in trade and economy is one of the key areas of interaction between Czechia and Belarus. In this regard, exchange trade can become an additional tool for Czech companies to make inroads into the Belarusian market with minimal risks. We are ready to provide the assistance necessary to attract Czech companies to the trades. It is in the interest of both states,” the diplomat said.

Chairman of the BUCE Board Arkady Salikov said that the BUCE maintains close contacts with the Czech business and has been active in this field. “Some 58 business entities from the Czech Republic have been accredited at the BUCE. More than $29 million worth of transactions were conducted in 2017. The Czech Republic mostly imported timber while Belarus purchased coke and coal. The potential for increasing mutual trade is huge. I am confident that with your support we will be able to significantly improve last year's trade figures,” the BUCE head said.

Milan Ekert also had an opportunity to see the real-time trade in steel products.

The parties agreed to establish a regular information exchange and work out the possibility of organizing joint events aimed at promoting exchange trade and strengthening contacts between business circles of Belarus and the Czech Republic. The Czech diplomat invited BUCE to take part in the 60th edition of the International Machine Tools Exhibition in Brno and hold a presentation of electronic exchange platforms for Czech businessmen.
