BREST, 23 October (BelTA) – Brest Oblast producers plan to conclude contracts worth more than $5 million at the 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine, BelTA learned from head of the foreign economic ties department of the economy committee of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Sergei Khizov.
Preliminary agreements with Ukrainian partners have been reached by the Baranovichi Cotton Production Association, Domanovsky Production and Trade Plant, Polesie and other enterprises. The total amount of contracts is estimated at $5.1 million. Berezastroimaterialy, Antopol Cotton-Spinning Factory, and Brestmyasomolprom will showcase their products on the forum as well.
Sergei Khizov emphasized positive trends in the trade between Brest Oblast and Ukraine. In January-August 2018 the export of products to the Ukrainian market amounted to $62.4 million, up 32.4% over the same period a year before. The main exports include meat and dairy products, cement and concrete products, gas stoves, cotton fabrics, tiles, plant protection products.
There are also plans to sign three interregional agreements at the forum. The Brest Oblast Executive Committee will conclude agreements on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation with the Volyn, Zaporozhye and Rivne regional state administrations. The official Brest Oblast delegation will be headed by Governor Anatoly Lis.
The 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine will take place in Gomel on 25-26 October. The program will include the 7th meeting of the Belarusian-Ukrainian Business Cooperation Advisory Council and a business matchmaking session, thematic conferences and meetings, the interactive discussion Prospects for Belarus-Ukraine Regional Cooperation, an exhibition-fair of products, and a concert of friendship.
