Brest Oblast presents its economic and tourism potential in Moscow

MOSCOW, 30 November (BelTA) - Brest Oblast arranged a wide-scale presentation of its economic, investment and tourist opportunities and also cultural heritage in the business and cultural complex of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko noted that Moscow has already held similar presentations of the Grodno, Gomel and Minsk regions. “Today is the day of Brest Oblast. Its potential is really huge, both in industry and in agriculture. Major exports are meat, sausage, canned fish and seafood, milk and dairy products,” the diplomat said.

The Ambassador said that the Brest region maintains trade and economic ties with 79 regions of Russia. The most robust are the relations with Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and also with the Moscow, Smolensk and Bryansk regions. Belarus has signed 18 agreements on cooperation with Russian regions.

“Today’s event clearly confirms the mutual interest, which I am sure, will be reflected in a number of practical projects,” Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Serkov said during the presentation.

He expressed confidence that the integration is greatly facilitated by close partnership contacts between Belarusian and Russian regions. Mutual exchange of visits of not only official delegations but also business leaders, farmers, producers, young people has become a good tradition. You know that the best diplomacy is people's diplomacy,” Mikhail Serkov said.

The presentation featured the Brest Technopark, the Brest free economic zone, transportation and logistics center Belterminal, Santa Bremor, Savushkin Product dairy, Brest meat-processing plant, Brest distillery company Belalco, Brestmyasomolprom Concern, Baranovichi milk factory, Kobrin butter and cheese-making plant and others.

The presentation was attended by representatives of the administrations of the city of Moscow, Moscow Oblast, Russian regions, the business community, and the diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow.

During the presentation Mikhail Serkov met with representatives of the Belarusian-Russian club of experts. They discussed the ways of developing interregional and cross-border cooperation, foreign trade and regional ties, expanding and deepening cooperation between the think tanks of the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union.
