MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft intends to extract more hydrocarbons in Russia, BelTA learned from a recent interview of Director General of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim Aleksandr Lyakhov with the corporate magazine Vestnik Belneftekhima.

The project to extract hydrocarbons in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District is of strategic importance for Belorusneft. Belorusneft’s daughter enterprise Oil Company Yangpur operates in the Izvestinsky licensed site. This year the company is expected to extract 1.1 million tonnes of oil equivalent or about 60% of the amount of oil that is extracted in Belarus. In December 2019 Yangpur won a tender for the right to develop the Yuzhno-Tydeottinsky licensed site, which borders on the Izvestinsky licensed site, thus increasing the amount of raw materials it can extract. By 2026 Yangpur is expected to match Belarus’ domestic extraction levels.

Aleksandr Lyakhov said that in 2013-2016 oil extraction in Belarus was stabilized at 1.645 million tonnes. Oil extraction has been steadily growing since 2017 and is expected to hit 1.71 million tonnes this year. Over 200 million m3 of associated petroleum gas will be extracted as well.

Meanwhile, Belorusneft is intent on increasing performance by leveraging digital technologies. A project to continuously analyze all the processes and promptly make organizational decisions was launched in the operations center of the company’s branch Rechitsaneft on 1 June. The project will help manage the large oil deposit Rechitskoye.

In the future Belorusneft intends to combine all the existing information systems, work out interaction algorithms, and push for more advanced digitization and intellectualization. The company intends to create a smart system that will help the personnel make decisions.
