Specialists of Belorusneft’s R&D division BelNIPIneft have come up with a technology to improve recovery and start recovering difficult oil. The technology has been successfully tested in Belarusian oil fields. It is now being tested by OOO Bashneft-Dobycha, the primary extracting enterprise of the industrial group Bashneft.

The technology provides for making filtering channels perpendicularly to the well axis. The technology allows expanding the drainage zone of the layer and connecting remote parts of the layer with the oil well, thus increasing the well’s output. Maximum effect can be achieved by using the technology to improve oil recovery in low-permeability reservoirs.

Belarusian specialists have already performed all the necessary operations at three oil wells of the Russian company. The technology will be introduced at ten wells by the end of the year. Most of the wells are so-called mature wells where keeping up oil recovery levels is an important problem.

Next year the Belarusian company intends to introduce the new technology at another ten wells of the Russian company. Results of the project will be used to decide on further adoption of the technology in Russia’s Bashkortostan.

The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
