Bellegprom signs $3.5m worth of contracts in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, 4 October (BelTA) – Bellegprom companies have signed contracts worth $3.5 million while on a visit to Pakistan, Chairman of Bellegprom Concern Nikolai Yefremchik told media on 4 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Nikolai Yefremchik, the market of Pakistan is highly competitive for Belarusian producers as the country is among the world’s leading cotton and textile producers. “We have never exported to Pakistan before. This year we have already shipped $284,000 worth of products there. It is high-bulk yarn of the Slonim worsted spinning mill and Pinsk-based company Polesye.

“Today Polesye has concluded a contract with a Pakistani firm to deliver $2 million worth of high-bulk yarn. This is an achievement for us. Bellegprom will earn more than $3.5 million next year,” Nikolai Yefremchik said.

Yet, there are logistics issues as the two countries are situated far away from each other. “Nevertheless, I hope that the completion of the Silk Road project will make the delivery of our goods considerably cheaper,” Nikolai Yefremchik added.

According to the Chairman of Bellegprom Concern, the Belarusian footwear producer Belwest also shows good results. “Today, Belwest works with Service Industrial, and I think they will conclude a contract worth nearly $1 million on the delivery of finished leather and shoe uppers. We are interested in the matter since we lack raw materials inside the country,” he explained.

Nikolai Yefremchik assessed the current visit to Pakistan as successful. “We have made the first steps. We know what the prospects are. I think the progress will be continuous,” he added.
