MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – Belgium may finance a project for setting up a pilot farm in Belarus for breeding elite varieties of cattle, pigs, and poultry. The matter was discussed as Ambassador of Belarus Alexander Mikhnevich met with top officials of the Belgian export insurance agency Delcredere, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Belgium told BelTA.
The meeting focused on working out mechanisms to finance Belarusian-Belgian joint projects with assistance of the export insurance agency. In particular, sale of Belgian flax harvesters was mentioned as well as the establishment of a pilot farm in Belarus for breeding elite varieties of cattle, pigs, and poultry with assistance of University of Liege.
The Belarusian side was assured that in view of Belarus’ updated ratings the agency is ready to take an active part in such projects. The procedure and terms of possible cooperation were explained. The embassy will organize trilateral meetings with representatives of Belgian companies, which are interested in such projects, in order to discuss the details.
Apart from that, results of the Delcredere delegation visit to Belarus in July were discussed as well as the content of the report on Belarus, which had been prepared as a result of the visit.
