MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – The car factory BelGee produced almost 68,000 cars in 2023, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik said at a dialogue platform on the election campaign held with students and academic staff of the Belarusian National Technical University on 31 January, BelTA has learned.

According to Piotr Parkhomchik, Belarus is developing its own production of passenger cars with the help of Chinese partners. “The BelGee car factory has been built between Borisov and Zhodino and the plant possesses certain technologies and competencies. Last year almost 68,000 passenger cars were produced at the BelGee plant, with 52,000 of them exported to Russia. This is a great success. We are beginning the next stage which is the localization of the component base,” he said.

The plant produced almost 25,000 cars in 2022, and 30,000 cars in 2021.

BelGee car factory was inaugurated on 17 November 2017. The factory occupies 118ha. Geely cars of Belarusian make are certified for compliance with technical regulations of the Customs Union and have been tested using EuroNCAP methods (the tests include frontal impact, side impact, and other kinds).
