MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) - Belenergo and OAO Rosseti signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the electric power engineering sector in Minsk on 22 January, BelTA learned from the IT department at the Belarusian national electrical company Belenergo.
The parties intend to cooperate in the development of electric grids of Russia and Belarus on the basis of mutual benefit. "The agreement will contribute to the development of cooperation in the field of design, construction and renovation of electric power supply networks," experts noted.
The document provides for cooperation in the management of emergency situations on the electric power objects located on the border of the two countries. Another focus will be the exchange of experience and knowledge between Russia and Belarus on technological connection to power grids.
In addition, the parties agreed to collaborate in improving the skills of electrical personnel through training course at training centers, joint conferences, seminars, and professional skills competitions.
OAO Rosseti is the operator of power grids in Russia, one of the largest electric grid companies in the world. The company operates 2.2 million km of electric power lines, 473,000 electric power substations with the aggregate capacity of over 748GW. OAO Rosseti includes 43 affiliated and dependent societies, including 14 interregional and the main grid company.
Established in 2006 as a result of the reorganization of the state concern, Belenergo is in charge of business management of the Belarusian energy system. It also includes six electric power unitary enterprises.
