BelAZ vehicles suggested to Malaysian private sector

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – The private sector of Malaysia may be interested in BelAZ vehicles. Piotr Parkhomchik, Director General of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ, made the statement as Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Malaysian parliament Pandikar Amin Mulia visited the company, BelTA has learned.

The BelAZ Director General said: “Malaysia has great reserves of mineral deposits, which include iron ore, coal, and non-ferrous metals among other things. The country is a leader in terms of tin availability. But in the 1980s the Malaysian mining industry ran into a serious crisis. The industry is recovering now. We hope that our shipments to Indonesia will allow us to demonstrate what our vehicles are capable of. We hope we will be able to sell them to Malaysia after that.”

In his words, it is important to establish contacts with Malaysian partners. “The private sector takes care of extracting mineral resources in Malaysia. We should demonstrate and prove that we are at least as good as competition. And we can do it. We’ve demonstrated it in Indonesia, China, Mongolia, India, and other countries,” said the BelAZ Director General.

During the tour of the enterprise Pandikar Amin Mulia went for a ride in one of the world’s largest dump trucks — a BelAZ haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes. He admired Belarus’ ability to make dump trucks with such a large carrying capacity. “I’ve never thought that such a large enterprise is located in Belarus,” he said. Pandikar Amin Mulia remarked that there are no open pits to fit such a large truck in Malaysia. He promised he would help BelAZ find partners for selling BelAZ trucks with a smaller carrying capacity to Malaysia.
