Belavia to test-run inflight duty-free service

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) - Belavia plans to a test-run the inflight duty-free service in late August, BelTA learned from the Belarusian airline.

“Belavia is planning to launch the inflight duty-free shopping service on 20 August,” it said.

The service will be test-run on flights to Antalya, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Larnaca, Milan and Barcelona. Next, the company plans to gradually extend the services to other flights.

With regard to products that passengers can buy on board, these will be toys, snacks, drinks, and tobacco. The airline will accept cash payments only.

As it has been reported earlier, Belarus has defined the procedure governing duty-free sales on board aircraft. Appropriate Decree No. 296 was signed by the head of state on 5 August 2019. The document is designed to expand duty-free sales on international air transport by Belarusian air organizations. It allows sale of goods, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products taken from duty-free shops for the use as supplies exportable from the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
