Belarusian Vityas offers smart TVs powered by Russian Yandex

VITEBSK, 22 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian TV manufacturer Vityas has designed and is about to start making smart TV sets powered by a multimedia platform of the Russian Internet company Yandex, BelTA learned from Vityas Chief Engineer Valery Zaitsev.

Software of Vityas TV sets implements the Android-based Smart TV platform Yandex developed and launched in April 2020. Cooperation between Vityas and Yandex became possible because Vityas’ modern and quality products have earned a good reputation on the Russian market. Vityas’ smart TV sets enjoy a strong popularity in Russia, the chief engineer said.

Yandex’s Smart TV solution allows customers to watch aerial television channels and use all the advantages of the Smart TV technology as part of the same user interface, including the virtual assistant Alice. Customers can watch movies in online movie theaters, use YouTube without having to switch between sources of content. Parental controls are also available.

At present OAO Vityas has versatile business interests but the manufacturing of television sets and medical equipment remains at its heart. The TV set lineup is actively renewed and expanded primarily with Ultra HD and 4K resolution models. This year the company has also presented the bezel-less LED TV set 43LU1204. The model met a strong demand in Russia, with about 10,000 TV sets of this model sold since launch.

Vityas was one of the top ten TV set brands in Russia in 2019. The share of TV sets in the company’s export exceeds 85%. In January-September 2020 Vityas made and sold over 210,000 TV sets, three times as much as in the same period of last year. The company exported about 200,000 TV sets. The company’s export in monetary terms increased by more than 2.5 times in 2020.

The Vitebsk television factory Vityas was founded in 1976. In 2010 the enterprise was incorporated into a public joint-stock company (OAO), with the state owning 100% of the stock. At present OAO Vityas makes TV sets, medical equipment, modern charging stations for electric vehicles and other high-technology products, and offers a broad range of manufacturing services. The company employs over 1,000 people.
