MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Belarus will be represented by a united booth during the second international expo and conference on unmanned systems and training simulators UMEX/MST 2016 that will take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE on 6-8 March 2016, BelTA learned from Vladimir Lavrenyuk, a spokesman of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus.
The Belarusian booth will feature breadboard models and full-scale specimens of aircraft-type small-range unmanned aerial vehicles Berkut 2 and small-range UAVs Berkut 1 and Busel M. Belarus will also put on display the long-range UAV Burevestnik MB as well as the vertical landing and takeoff quadcopter Shershen. The Belarusian exhibits will also include radioelectronic warfare products and systems such as the Optima B transmitter able to send misinforming signals to GPS-based navigation systems.
UMEX 2016 will become an inalienable part of the Abu Dhabi Aerospace and Aviation Week 2016 (ADAAW). During the expo the Belarusian delegation will include representatives of the enterprises run by the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus, other defense contractors. The delegation will be led by the Committee’s Chairman Sergei Gurulev.
The spokesman underlined that participation in the expo will open up the rich global market of military and civilian unmanned aerial systems before Belarusian R&D companies and manufacturers. The global UAV market is expanding at a rapid rate and is already close to $7 billion. Even the most modest forecasts made by the industry experts expect the market to exceed $10 billion by 2020. According to the source, Belarus has secured massive advancement in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes as part of the state R&D program on multiple-purpose UAVs and relevant manufacturing technologies. The program was implemented in 2011-2015. Belarusian companies and organizations also acted upon their initiatives to advance in this field.
