MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Some 217,500 foreigners stayed at Belarusian sanatoriums in 2023, Deputy Director of the National Center for Health Improvement and Resort Treatment Aleksandr Tsai told BelTA’s The Nation Speaks project.
According to Aleksandr Tsai, the demand for recreation and treatment at Belarusian sanatoriums among foreign nationals increased significantly last year.
“Belarusian sanatoriums hosted 217,500 foreign guests, with a forecast of 210,000. This is 15.5% higher than in 2022 when we had 188,000 foreign visitors. The revenue increased by 27% over 2022. The revenue from selling recreation services to citizens of near and far abroad countries totaled Br311 million. Here we did even better than before the pandemic. In 2019, the revenue approximated Br215 million. The increase was significant,” he noted.
A lot of efforts were invested in boosting competitiveness, which cannot be achieved without infrastructure development.
“Therefore, at every meeting of the working group on promotion of medical and health tourism we urged owners of such facilities to invest in infrastructure improvement to make these facilities more competitive in foreign markets,” Aleksandr Tsai emphasized.
