Belarusian, Russian scientists to work out Resource-SG program for 2022-2026

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – Belarusian and Russian scientists intend to work out a new R&D program of the Union State of Belarus and Russia titled as Resource-SG. The program will cover the period of 2022-2026, BelTA learned from Oleg Penyazkov, Director of the A.V. Lykov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, at a press conference on 6 March.

The official said: “We are discussing the creation of a new Union State program titled as Resource. It will continue the previous programs Nanotechnologies-SG and Technology-SG. The concept of the new program is being worked out now.”

In his words, there are several interesting and challenging tasks they intend to make part of the program. In particular, the new program will focus on creating a satellite constellation that will provide information about the presence of certain chemicals in the planet’s atmosphere (including at high altitudes and near the surface) in real time throughout the day. It will allow accomplishing many tasks of economic, scientific, and defensive nature. Later on it will allow monitoring the environment on the global scale as well as in Belarus and in Russia.

Speaking about results of the Technology-SG program, Oleg Penyazkov noted: “The program is going to end in late 2020. We have about 26 tasks, each of which will result in the creation of a certain device or an instrument. The key goal of the program is to work out integrated technologies, devices, and components, which will allow reducing the mass and improving quality parameters of spacecraft.” In his words, some of the products resulting from the program are supposed to be used in other spheres in addition to space exploration.

Oleg Penyazkov described devices for measuring the temperature of objects in the range between 1,000K and 3,000K as one of the program’s accomplishments. These devices can provide data about the temperature of the object with a very high degree of precision and can be used in the space industry and in the manufacturing sector.

Oleg Penyazkov noted that a space congress will take place in Minsk in October 2020. The A.V. Lykov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will host an exhibition of all the products, devices, and components created as part of the Technology-SG program.
