Belarusian Railways to share IT assimilation practices with Georgian colleagues

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – A delegation of the company Georgian Railway arrived in Belarus to exchange best practices of adoption and assimilation of information technologies with Belarusian Railways. Representatives of the two companies met in Minsk on 26 January, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways press center.

“The program of the visit of the Georgian delegation to Belarus features visits to different rail infrastructure facilities, including to the Main Clearing Information Center, where they will be briefed about the work of the central computing system of Belarusian Railways,” the specialists said. The delegation will also pay a visit to the Minsk locomotive depot and hold a meeting there.

Besides, employees of the Belarusian company will hold presentations on maintenance and repair of equipment for the Georgian colleagues.

The Belarusian railway network is a major component of the country’s transport system. It successfully competes with other modes of transportation. Belarusian Railways accounts for more than 62% of freight traffic and some 36% of passenger traffic in Belarus. The company’s priorities include adopting new technologies of freight and passenger transportation and improving the existing ones, upgrading the railway infrastructure, enhancing the provision of transportation and logistics services, and acquiring modern rolling stock.
