MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – The precision engineering holding company Planar will design a new laser equipment model, which is unparalleled in the world, as part of a project financed by the Belarusian Innovation Fund, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Aleksandr Shumilin.

Aleksandr Shumilin discussed prospects of the company’s development with the management and workers of the company. The development of a new government program on innovative development of Belarus and Planar’s possible participation in the program were discussed. Aleksandr Shumilin noted that the company’s successful development hinges on a tight connection between new R&D products and market studies, which allows the company to organize effective manufacturing of innovative products. Work performed using state funding makes a considerable contribution to the development of the company. A number of special cutting-edge equipment models, which are unparalleled in the post-Soviet space, have been designed and are now produced as part of state R&D programs.

Planar specialists are now working on a new technology to make microimages using a matrix that contains over 1 million micromirrors, each of which is controlled using a dedicated algorithm. The technology will allow forming images with nanometric precision. Another interesting project is the development of an introduced defects control device, which will use a precision elliptical mirror to catch miniscule optical particles caused by the diffused reflection from foreign particles. The technology will allow detecting nanosized defects.

Technologies, which have been developed by Planar specialists, have helped design laser-optic equipment, which was recognized as the world’s best after comparison tests with American and Japanese products using methods of the world’s leading producer of semiconductor photomasks Photronics Inc. The Belarusian product scored 78 points, the American one 76 points, and the Japanese one 68.5 points. As a result, the Belarusian product is used at a new factory built by an American-Japanese-Taiwanese consortium in China. Two plants have been shipped to Chinese Taiwan. The Belarusian product demonstrated high performance, with the uptime ratio of over 97% during the first year of operation. The equipment is fully compliant with ISO-1 clean environment. It is the highest cleanroom class in compliance with SEMI standards. Negotiations and pre-contract testing are in progress with a number of companies from the USA, Japan, and China before contracts on selling such equipment can be signed.

The Belarusian precision engineering holding company Planar is a world leader in the area of electronic equipment engineering. In the last few decades the company put together a scientific school for designing special fabrication equipment, control and measurement equipment for manufacturing micro and nanoelectronics based on laser-optics technologies and precision mechanics technologies.
