MOGILEV, 5 December (BelTA) – The Shklov-based newsprint mill has started selling its products to China, BelTA learned from the company’s First Deputy Director Leonid Shklyar.
The executive said: “We’ve agreed to deliver 200 tonnes of newsprint to Chinese partners every month although they are ready to buy the entire volume we make. But from the point of view of economic security we cannot agree to this. If demand for newsprint falls in China, we will have problems. This is why we try to balance foreign trade and put persistent efforts into export diversification.”
The company exports more than two thirds of the output. The main importers are China, Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, and Pakistan. In January-October 2017 the export growth rate totaled 113% as against the same period of last year.
Virtually all the manufacturing facilities of the company are operating at full capacity now. The Domostroenie division, which specializes in making sawn timber, battens, glued timber, panelized houses and houses made of glued timber, operates in four shifts without any days off.
The Shklov-based newsprint mill started working in 2006. The company specializes in making high-quality newsprint and offset paper. The company has two divisions now: the house construction and construction materials division Domostroenie and the paper factory Spartak. The company can make 40,000 tonnes of paper per annum, including 20,000 tonnes of standard newsprint and 20,000 tonnes of lightly coated paper.
