MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT, Volat trademark) has designed a tractor track for the army of the United Arab Emirates, the press service of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
According to the source, the super heavy road train has been designed specifically for the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates. State-of-the-art design and engineering solutions were employed. The combination resulted in a high carrying capacity and solid off-road performance. The prototype is now being tuned in preparation for test runs.
The road train comprises an all-wheel-drive tractor truck, a semitrailer and a trailer. The truck can carry up to three tracked and wheeled combat vehicles such as armored personnel carriers or containers weighing a total of up to 130 tonnes. The Volat road train also boasts an onboard computer and a tire pressure control and pumping system. The fully loaded weight can be as high as 210 tonnes.
According to the source, the truck will have to pass the manufacturer’s tests in Belarus. A full-fledged acceptance inspection will take place in the UAE in July 2016.
