MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom and the interregional public foundation for support and development of the flax industry Flax Union signed a cooperation agreement during the All-Russian Flax Field Day in Tver Oblast, BelTA has learned.
As part of the cooperation agreement the sides will consider the possibility of using flax fiber made by the Flax Union and its partners in order to make light industry products. Sharing information about strategic projects and perspective plans to grow linen flax, information about events held by the Flax Union (projects, scientific conferences, congresses, symposiums, forums, seminars, and exhibitions) is another cooperation avenue.
The All-Russian Flax Field Day took place in Torzhok District, Tver Oblast, Russia on 8 August. It gathered over 260 people – leading Russian and foreign flax growers, retted straw processing specialists, flax industry experts, and representatives of agricultural companies. Participants of the forum examined flax plots, agricultural machines, and an exhibition of ready-made flax products. A roundtable session took place to discuss flax industry development prospects. The breeding of new linen flax varieties was discussed as well as merchandise export and innovative approaches to flax cultivation. The plenary session “Potential of the flax industry of Russia: Strategic development avenues” was the central event.
