MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – More than 30 companies affiliated with the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom made use of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) trading services in 2020, BUCE spokesperson Roman Yaniv told BelTA.

“The most selling goods were fabrics, footwear, and personal protective equipment. We conducted the sales of these products in the industrial and consumer goods department. They were mainly sold domestically. Yet of some of these products were also sold abroad,” Roman Yaniv said.

There are around 1,000 sales orders from Bellegprom’s companies in BUCE’s trading system. So far, they offer a relatively small range of products, but it is gradually expanding. According to Anton Zaretsky, the head of the industrial and consumer goods department, around 50 new goods were put on offer in the past few months alone.

Plans are in place to promote Belarusian light industry products in foreign markets in 2021 more aggressively. “We already have positive experience of promoting construction materials and food products in foreign markets. We have secured a niche there. This is why we are now working to attract potential buyers from among both our regular clients and also companies that are not yet accredited at BUCE,” Anton Zaretsky noted.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry, and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.

In 2020, BUCE posted more than 70,000 transactions in industrial and consumer goods worth a total of Br430 million, which was up by 6% over 2019. Construction materials, manufacturing equipment, and petrochemistry products accounted for the largest share of total sales.
