MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) - The Belarusian Light Industry Association and the Russian Union of Tanners and Shoemakers signed a memorandum of cooperation at the MosShoes exhibition in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom.
A Belarusian delegation headed by chairwoman of Bellegprom Tatiana Lugina visited MosShoes exhibition, the biggest B2B footwear exhibition in Russia and Eastern Europe held since 1997. This year’s edition has attracted more than 600 companies from 30 countries.
Tatiana Lugina was among the speakers at the roundtable to review the leather and footwear industry in the EAEU, its accomplishments and prospects. The participants discussed the ways to promote cooperation between tanning and footwear enterprises of the Eurasian Economic Union member states and reviewed the industrial potential of the common market. The participants zeroed on in the prospects for introducing the mandatory marking of goods in the EAEU as a tool to combat counterfeiting and illegal trafficking of goods.
"It is very important that we can meet face-to-face and discuss the current agenda of the tanning and footwear industry today. It is no secret that this particular industry has been significantly affected by the pandemic. Today, the markets have bounced back. The exhibition is a good example of this. It is pleasant that our flagships, namely the Minsk Tanning Association and the Galanteya manufacturer of leather bags and accessories are featured at the event," Tatiana Lugina noted.
She also announced the first results of the exhibition. The Belarusian Light Industry Association and the Russian Union of Tanners and Shoemakers have signed a memorandum of cooperation, and the Belarusian producers taking part in the exhibition have already concluded deals worth $ 3 million.
