MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – The Industry Ministry is interested in setting up a joint venture to make electric motors together with the German company Siemens and the Chinese company CRRC, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Sergei Gunko.
“We are extremely interested in implementing the project to build a factory to make electric motors for BelAZ, MTZ, Belkommunmash and other companies together with Siemens and CRRC,” said Sergei Gunko. “We can see this market is developing very dynamically.”
The official noted that, for instance, some components of BelAZ trucks traditionally use electric motors made by BelAZ’s German partner — Siemens. “We would like this company to help us start making electric motors in Belarus, including for BelAZ. Since BelAZ vehicles are not made in large batches, we are considering the idea of making an electric tractor for MTZ,” said Sergei Gunko.
Apart from that, the electric transport manufacturer Belkommunmash has quite high demand for electric motors for trolleybuses, trams, and electric buses. All in all, companies accountable to the Belarusian Industry Ministry alone need quite a large number of electric motors, concluded the Belarusian deputy industry minister. “This is why we invite the second company — the Chinese company CRRC, which is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electric motors. CRRC electric trains are successfully used in Belarus and Russia,” added Sergei Gunko.
