Belarusian Gomselmash starts testing agricultural machines in Pakistan

GOMEL, 11 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Gomselmash has started testing its agricultural machines in Pakistan, BelTA learned from Yuri Rafeyev, Director of Gomselmash’s Non-CIS Sales Department.

According to the source, Gomselmash is testing forage harvesters, which had already been shipped to Pakistan. Those are three mounted rotary mower conditioners Palesse SN15 and a trailed mower conditioner Palesse ST42. Gomselmash specialists are now in Pakistan to tune the machines for the tests. The tests are meant to demonstrate how Gomselmash machines are attuned to the local conditions.

BelTA reported earlier that a major Belarusian delegation visited Pakistan as part of the Belarus president’s visit to the country. The delegation included ministers, businessmen, and heads of major state-run and privately owned structures. Yuri Rafeyev was a member of the delegation and took part in negotiations with representatives of the Pakistani private sector. “Among other things we discussed the expansion of the product choice Gomselmash sells to Pakistan and the possibility of setting up joint enterprises to assemble machines in the future,” noted the executive.

According to the source, the Pakistani market has its own peculiarities. Small farmers represent the bulk of the local agriculture, with land plots rarely exceeding one hectare. This is why trailed agricultural machines may sell well over there. Meanwhile, Gomselmash makes mainly self-propelled agricultural machines, which will have a hard time navigating the small fields in Pakistan. “Nevertheless, the country’s territory and the population are huge. The economy is inclined towards agriculture. This is why we will continue seeking our niches on this market,” said the Director of Gomselmash’s Non-CIS Sales Department.

The Belarusian industrial group Gomselmash is a major manufacturer of agricultural machines. It is one of the world’s top manufacturers of harvesters and other complicated agricultural machines. Under the proprietary brand Palesse the company offers grain and forage harvesters, corn and potato harvesters, mowers and other kinds of agricultural machines. The Palesse family includes 16 types of agricultural machines, 75 basic models and modifications, 70 kinds of adapters and implements designed for harvesting various kinds of crops.
