MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – The quality and design of Belarusian furniture are improving, Alberto Drudi, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pesaro and Urbino and a member of the Italian Union of Chambers of Commerce, told journalists at the opening ceremony of the 22nd international expo Furniture 2016 on 16 September, BelTA has learned.
“It is not the first time that I have come to take part in this international expo. I can say that in the previous years the quality of furniture products was much poorer. The quality and design of Belarus-made furniture are improving. I hope that the participation of Italian furniture manufacturers in the expo will encourage Belarusian companies to make even more effort to enhance the quality of their products,” Alberto Drudi noted.
He expressed hope that Italian and Belarusian furniture producers will establish cooperation ties during Furniture 2016. “We should not forget that Belarus borders on Russia that is an immense market. The access of European goods to this market has been restricted in light of the sanctions. Belarusian products face no barriers in this respect. Jointly, Belarusian furniture manufacturers and Italian companies will be able to create competitive products in terms of both price and design. Such products will be in demand, including in the Russian market,” Alberto Drudi emphasized.
Minsk is hosting the 22nd international expo Furniture 2016 on 16-20 September. Partaking in the event are 200 furniture producers from nine countries. Traditionally, the Belarusian exposition at the expo is the largest one. Some 20 Belarusian companies are showcasing their products at Furniture 2016. Such flagship enterprises as Pinskdrev Holding Company, Gomeldrev, Molodechnomebel, Slonimmebel, Bobruiskmebel, and Gomel Furniture Factory Progress are among them. A separate section of the expo is dedicated to wood slab products of the companies Ivatsevichidrev, Rechitsadrev, and Mostovdrev.
