MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) - Belarusian business circles took part in a forum in Hong Kong, BelTA learned from the Belarusian National Center for Marketing.
The Belarusian-Hong Kong forum was organized with the support of the Consulate General of Belarus in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The event highlighted the opportunities of Belarusian companies involved in the food production sector and included talks with representatives of Hong Kong business. The Belarusian delegation also visited the HKTDC Food Expo, an international exhibition of food products and beverages.
“Thanks to its unique geographical, historical and political structure, Hong Kong is a connecting bridge for international business and capital not only to mainland China but also to Southeast Asia, acting as a key element of one of the largest agglomerations - the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. At the same time, its status as a global financial, logistics and technology center makes Hong Kong one of the best places for business expansion. The National Center for Marketing provides comprehensive assistance to Belarusian enterprises in promoting products in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region,” the National Center for Marketing.
Hong Kong is 54th largest market for Belarusian products in terms of Belarus' exports. In 2021, Belarus' exports to Hong Kong amounted to $12.5 million, up almost 80% year-on-year. In 2021, the trade between Belarus and Hong Kong soared 5.3 times from $9.8 million in 2020 to $52.1 million in 2021.
Belarus’ most promising export items include ferrous metals, dairy products, electrical machinery and equipment, poultry and cattle meat, cosmetics and perfumes, fish and shellfish, optics, watches and medical instruments, finished meat products, and pharmaceutical components.
