Belarusian enterprises urged to respond quickly to changing conditions on foreign markets

DOHA, 30 October (BelTA) – It is important for Belarusian enterprises to be able to respond quickly to the changing conditions on the foreign markets, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told BelTA on 30 October.

“The global military, political, as well as financial and economic situation is rapidly changing. I believe that the lack of prompt adequate response to the changing environment is the number one problem for our industries and a number of enterprises. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to push some of our enterprises to accept certain proposals from foreign partners,” the minister said.

Vladimir Makei noted that the current situation is radically different from, for instance, the one in the times of the Soviet Union when there was a great demand for certain industrial products. “Customers were coming with suitcases full of money and were queuing to buy a tractor, a car or some other product. Today we need to go to that market ourselves and demonstrate that the vehicles we offer are competitive. It is necessary to convince the buyer to purchase this piece of equipment,” he stressed.

“Belarusian companies and enterprises are not always ready to accept their partner’s proposals, to offer profitable, well-elaborated projects compliant with international standards, and set out a clear action strategy for a specific market,” Vladimir Makei said.

However, he noted that Belarusian companies and enterprises are gradually accumulating the necessary experience, and the situation is changing for the better. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively involved in the promotion of Belarus’ economic interests abroad.
