DAMASCUS, 11 August (BelTA-SANA) – Five companies from Belarus will take part in the Damascus International Fair. The importance of the participation of the Belarusian companies and business in the event was highlighted by Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil during a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Damascus Alexander Ponomarev.
Mohammad Samer al-Khalil stressed the need to strengthen economic cooperation between Syria and Belarus. According to the minister, the setting up of the Belarusian-Syrian Business Council will contribute to the strengthening of relations between businessmen of the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Alexander Ponomarev confirmed the willingness of Belarus to strengthen economic cooperation with Syria, adding that the fair is an good opportunity for Belarus to showcase its economic potential. The Ambassador also said that Belarus is willing to set up a joint venture to produce trucks and various equipment, which will provide new jobs and will contribute to the development of the Syrian economy.
