MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) is working to redirect timber export to MENA countries, BUCE spokesman Roman Yaniv told BelTA.
Practical issues of organizing the export of Belarusian sawn timber to MENA countries (Middle East and North Africa) using the exchange mechanism were discussed during the negotiations of BUCE representatives with visitors and exhibitors of Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show held in Dubai, the UAE on 15-17 March.
In particular, Beston Wood Industries LLC, a major importer and distributor of timber in the UAE, announced its readiness to enter the Belarusian market via BUCE, and Good Wood LLC, an Egyptian manufacturer of furniture boards and door panels, intends to get accredited at BUCE to purchase edged softwood boards and other products of Belarusian woodworking enterprises.
In Dubai the BUCE delegation also met with representatives of the timber industry from the Komi Republic of Russia. The parties exchanged the experience of trading with MENA countries and agreed to implement a joint project to export Belarusian sawn timber products to Syria. Goods will be delivered by rail with transshipment in the port of St. Petersburg.
