MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese automobile manufacturing company SZAO BelGee has limited markup on spare parts for the Geely cars it makes, BelTA learned from the company’s Acting Director General, Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky on 20 March.
The executive talked about how prices for components for cars of Belarusian make are set. Components are made in China. They are sold to Belarus and Russia at the same price. “Then the parts are sold to our dealers, who set the final price that consumers can see. It turned out that retail markups were unjustifiably high,” he said.
In February the car maker issued a directive to limit the trade markup on car parts to 35%. “We asked Chinese colleagues to send us the list of effective Chinese prices for components, which need replacement. A conciliation process is in progress,” noted Gennady Svidersky. “I can assure you that all the maintenance services, the cost of spare parts will be revised in order to set justified prices, which will keep our automobiles competitive.”
In 2019 SZAO BelGee intends to make 20,000 cars. “Aftersales service is one of the most important components for increasing the output. We should make what people will buy. And people will buy cars only if it is economically profitable and if they are satisfied with technical parameters,” Gennady Svidersky said.
