MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Enterprises to assemble passenger and cargo vehicles of the Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ will be set up in Hanoi, Vietnam. The relevant documents were signed during the 13th session of the Belarusian-Vietnamese intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation during the official visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko and Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk to Vietnam, the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry told BelTA.
The Belarusian-Vietnamese truck assembly enterprise MAZ Asia will start operating this year. It will be able to assemble 1,500 vehicles per annum.
Work is in progress to start the joint production of low-floor buses MAZ Zenit, which can carry 60 and 80 people.
Apart from that, Au Viet Industry Company signed a contract to buy 200 MAZ vehicles in 2017. Eight BelAZ-7547 haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 45 tonnes will be bought for Vietnam Apatite Company (Lao Cai Province). As many as 56 MAZ vehicles will be bought for resale in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Laos.
An agreement of intent was signed by BelAZ and the Vietnamese mining company Vinacomin. The Belarusian company MTZ signed a memorandum to sell Belarus tractors to the Vietnamese company Mekong Machinery in 2017.
These agreements will definitely give a new impulse to the development of Belarusian-Vietnamese trade and economic relations, stressed the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry.
The agreement on a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam came into force on 5 October 2016. A protocol on making motor vehicles in Vietnam was signed by the governments of Belarus and Vietnam.
