MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian confectionery Slodych plans to produce a special lineup of biscuits for the U.S. stores, BelTA learned from First Deputy Chairman of Belgospishcheprom concern Igor Shustov during the international agricultural expo Belagro 2017.
“This year we have quite an ambitious strategy to get a foothold in the U.S. market. We have met with Walmart’s representatives. We plan to produce an exclusive lineup of biscuits for the U.S. market and start selling it in the U.S. retail stores in autumn,” Igor Shustov noted.
Belgospishcheprom companies redoubled the efforts to enter the Chinese market. “We have been to Shanghai and are now planning to visit Guangzhou and Hong Kong. We have received Chinese delegates and accompanied them to all our plants. They were quite satisfied with everything they had seen. The Chinese side is interested in our confectionery in the first place,” Igor Shustov remarked.
For her part, Belgospishcheprom Domestic Sales and Foreign Trade Coordinator Yelena Malinovskaya highlighted that Belgospishcheprom companies have been instructed to branch out into new promising markets. In January-April 2017 they supplied $6.7 million worth of products to these markets that accounted for 4.7% of the Belgospishcheprom’s exports. Today Belgospishcheprom companies are selling into 60 countries.
Yelena Malinovskaya added that Belgosphishcheprom’s major companies are taking part in Belagro 2017.
The international agricultural expo Belagro 2017 is taking place in the trade and logistics center Globus Park in the agro-town Shchomyslitsa, Minsk District on 6-10 June. The expo features the most promising areas in crop production, cattle and poultry breeding, the latest product processing, packaging and storage technologies, and also a variety of agricultural equipment. Taking part in the Belagro 2017 are nearly 500 companies from 25 countries.
