MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – This year the Belarusian Belgospischeprom food industry concern tapped into 13 new countries, head of the concern Anatoly Buben said on the air of the STV TV channel on 21 November, BelTA has learned.
"Last year we expanded into new markets 20 countries. All in all, we shipped our products to more than 70 countries in 2020. This year we tapped into 13 more markets, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nigeria and others. These are the markets we had never been present. Last year, we tripled the export to the Chinese market. This year the growth is already 30%," Anatoly Buben said.
Speaking about the consequences of the economic sanctions, the head of the concern said: "If we talk about Asian markets, for example China, sometimes money transfers are delayed by a day or two, because the dollar is still present in settlements. Our exports to the West have not decreased by an inch. They are even growing."
Anatoly Buben said that the other day Belgospischeprom Concern was featured at EXPO 2020. "We gathered our partners there, and showed them out product lineups. Those were hookah products, a new line of business of the Neman tobacco factory, and also jams and sugar made from berries from Gorodeya Sugar Mill. Our confectionery factories displayed chocolates in the form of camels, and, knowing the preferences of Middle Eastern countries, we adapted the flavors and added ginger and other additives not only to chocolate but also marshmallows, marmalade. Of course, we prepared thoroughly. We concluded five contracts, five memorandums, and many agreements on cooperation and intentions," Anatoly Buben noted.
The chairman of Belgospischeprom also informed about the setting up of a food industry corporation in the country. "There is a specific task to set up, in the new year, a food industry corporation that will incorporate all enterprises of the food industry. The presidential decree on the establishment of the corporation is already in the works, we are adding the final touches to this document," Anatoly Buben said.
